Since 1900, the New York Doll Hospital has repaired and restored dolls, figurines, stuffed animals, teddy bears, and the like. The business was founded by Abraham Chais, whose son Lewis ran it until 1951, at which time its current owner and "chief surgeon," Irving Chais, took over.
